Condyloid JOint
A condyloid joint differs from a hinge joint in that the difference in the size and shape of the articulating surfaces is greater. As a result, in distinction from the hinge joint, the condyloid joint allows movements on two axes. It differs from an ellipsoid joint in the number of articular heads. Condyloid joints always have two condyles located more or less sagittally. They are enclosed either in a common capsule (e.g. two condyles of the femur forming the knee joint) or in different articular capsules, as is the case in the atlanto-occipital joint.Medical Coding Services will analyse all these for the coding.
