Every year my old roommate from college sends me one of the biggest gourmet gift baskets, a person could find. This basket shows up on my doorstep on the same day each year, August 17th. That date is very special to us. It is the first day we met. We were both freshman at Penn State University. They had assigned us the same room. As soon as we said hi, we were inseparable. We lived in the dorms our freshman and sophomore years. Then we rented an off campus apartment together. We don’t talk as much these days, but it is great to know she always remembers.

My son is currently into collecting foreign money. For Christmas I went and got him thirty dollars worth of foreign coins and paper money. I was surprised at how much fun I had looking through all of the different currencies. I also found a currency exchange place on the same block that I work. I asked if I was able to purchase foreign money there as well, and they said yes. So, I am going to stop by there today after work to pick up some Japanese Yen. I think my son will be the only child that gets paid in Yen for a good report card!
